Purchasing Officer
Stockport
£30,000 - £35,000

An opportunity has arisen for a Purchasing Officer to join my client's team in Stockport, you will be responsible for high-quality procurement services, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and value. Manage procurement projects, contracts, and supplier performance. Develop procurement systems and support stakeholders in tender processes and maintain transparent audit trails and contribute to business meetings and training.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide procurement advice and manage procurement projects.
  • Coordinate tender processes and contract management.
  • Develop and update procurement systems and controls.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance and contract compliance.
  • Support stakeholders in tender processes and procurement requirements.
  • Analyze opportunities for new business through local council tenders.
  • Negotiate prices and manage procurement administration efficiently.
  • Provide reports and support Procurement Manager as required.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide cover and attend meetings/training sessions as needed.


Requirements:
Essential:

  • Previous experience working within a procurement or purchasing role
  • Competent in using Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to analyse figures and to write, review for negotiating contracts.
  • Ability to deliver improvements and cost savings.
  • Experience of contracts and procurement
  • Experience of preparing, letting, and execution of supply contracts
  • Experience of building and maintaining relationships with both external and internal customers
  • Track record of negotiating contracts
  • Experience of monitoring recording supplier performance and KPI's
  • Experience of using SAP

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of policies and procedures specific to procurement regulations (OJEU)
  • CIPS qualified.
